Hyderabad, March 15 (Crime News): The Chief Minister N.Kiran Kumar Reddy and APCC Chief Botsa Satyanarayana are leaving for New Delhi tomorrow evening most probably to discuss and finalise the candidates’ names for the ensuing Rajya Sabha elections due for March 30. Six seats have fallen vacant.

 

The Election Commission of India has already announced notification for Rajya Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh. Six seats fall vacant with the end of the term of the existing members from Andhra Pradesh. K.Kesava Rao, Sanjeeva Reddy, Dasari Narayana Rao, Rasheed Alvi (all congress MPs ), M.V.Mysoora Reddy (TDP) and Aziz Pasha (CPI).

 

Nominations for RS biennial elections will be received from March 19. Elections will be held on March 30. Counting of votes and declaration of results will take place on the same day.

 

Chiranjeevi is said to be the choice of the high command and the state leaders as well as he had come to the rescue of the Kiran Kumar Reddy government when a no confidence motion was moved on the floor of the assembly by the TDP. Chiranjeevi who allowed merger of his party with the ruling party stands better chances than any other aspirant for one of the four seats to be filled up. The star turned politician had also bargained for a berth in the union cabinet and it may come off as scheduled, according to sources.

 

 

The loser in the current race is said to be CPI which has no support from any quarters. As envisaged the Congress will retain three seats while the TDP will increase one more RS seat as it had registered an increase in the legislators tally in the last elections. From TDP the Seema leader and sitting member Dr M.V.Mysoora Reddy stands a better chance as he is said to be the choice of the TDP Supremo. Besides, Mysoora is said to have a good grip over the national politics and the parliament proceedings which was considered a plus point for him.

 

The sitting members K.Kesavarao, Renuka Chowdary from Khammam and industrialist GV Krishna Reddy had been lobbying for a seat in the Rajya Sabha.

 

In all 58 new members from all over the country will enter the Rajya Sabha this time. Aspirants from Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Gujarat, Haryana, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Odisha and Rajasthan will be fighting for a berth in the upper house on March 30. Prominent among those in the race are said to be are Arun Jaitly, Hema Malini, Vinay Katiyar, Kalraj Mishra, Abhishek Manu Singhvi among others.
